The Bess Choice! – Learning with U.
Early Childhood Education workshops and seminars should assist teachers with the various issues and needs that arise when working with young children.
Learning with U. is a program designed for Early Childhood Educators. The goals of Learning with U. are to provide ECE teachers with a strong knowledge base in child development, curriculum planning, classroom management strategies and effective communication styles that will yield a positive learning experience for young children.
To this end, caregivers can attend either a Learning with U. Workshop or Seminar starting this fall. Please check EVENTS for specific program offerings as well as dates, times and locations.
Please note: Any of the workshops listed above can be offered at your own program’s location so the entire staff can learn as “ONE”.

Learning with U. Seminars: (a three hour program)
Sometimes it is so easy to underestimate a child’s capabilities. To adults, children appear so young and inexperienced. They seem so vulnerable and tentative when learning new skills or adjusting to new situations. However, they are tremendously accomplished learners. In order to fully recognize a child’s level of mastery, and the potential he or she has for growth and development, we must consider each child from a developmental perspective.
Expectations – Understanding our Littlest Learners
(Child Development - The Preschool and Pre-K Years)
There are many aspects of development which educators should be aware of when working with or raising young children. They include: Social skills and abilities; Emotional Understanding and Capabilities; Language development; Cognitive skill and ability; Physical Growth and Personal/Self Awareness. Each skill level is different depending on the child’s age and level of experience. Individual differences have to be noted and respected for there is a wide range of abilities that come with maturation.
Understanding Development from Three to Six years
I recommended that caregivers and teachers be well-versed in typical child development. If you know what to expect, you can create a program suited to the children in your care. To that end, I have created a three and one half hour seminar that corresponds to the development of children from three to six years of age.
